Prong--Cleansing (1993)

Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck--RealAudio
With sharp distortion and claws-across-the-back riffs, the Prong trio is
back with more pissed off attitude to boot. Imagine the punch of White
Zombie without the sampling. Trouble,
Black Sabbath and Rage Against The
Machine flavors are also thrown in for fun, making this an interesting mix.
Vocals have a clean Rob Zombie feel. Hey, you can understand what he is
singing! In all, a vast improvement over the band's earlier material--in both song structure
and distortion quality.
The first four tracks are pure crunch, with "Snap Your Fingers,
Snap Your Neck" being the pearl in the oyster. Keep the neck brace handy on
that one. "Whose Fist Is This Anyway" breaks into a mean-ass chug around 3:20, being prime moshing
fare.
Prong center themselves on groove and attack rather than mood or mindless
solos. There are a few six string breaks here and there, but the chug is the main
reason these guys keep their jobs. After a few somewhat-filler tracks in the
middle, add "Out of Misery" and the Trouble-like chug of "Test" to the first
four tracks as highpoints. A solid little offering...
