Change Breeds Contempt--RealAudio
Solo project from the vocalist of Elegy, with a ton of special guests. Some of the big names include
Thom Youngblood (of Kamelot), Dirk Bruinenberg and Martin Helmantel of Elegy, and guitar whiz
Patrick Rondat, among others. Additionally, the disc was mixed by power/prog great Tommy Newton, who has worked with such units as Helloween, Conception, Sanvoisen,
Scanner, and more.
This is is much more progressive than 'Manifestation of Fear," and more vibrant and free-flowing, as
well. At the same time, it is heavier than 'State of Mind,' so in a way is a mix of those two most recent Elegy offerings. Good
stuff, no matter how you look at it.
The paced and thumping "Banquest for Thieves" is nice, and stands amongst a number of fair tracks, including "House of
Cards," "Evilworld," and "Garden of Eden."
The top highlights shine forth from the second half of the disc, kicked off
by the chugging and nasty "Change Breeds Contempt". Both "The Snake" and "Criminals & Kings" are heavy movers, and
"Pandora's Box" has a great flow.
Parry has more than proven himself with this offering, in terms of being an extremely
capable songwriter. It should be a treat seeing him both in Elegy and on his own, for years to come.
