War--RealAudio
An indie project from New York led by singer/guitarist Tommy Bach. A good, thick distortion sound, but as is usually the case with indie-produced offerings,
the lead sound is a bit lacking. Musically, think raw Sabbath, as well as fellow indie
act Affliction. The vocals are at times deep and others shouty, sometimes being reminiscent of
Rob Zombie and other low-toned belters (a little Peter Steele, perhaps?).
Some decent churning shows
up in "Brick," and good light-to-heavy shifts move through "Blackwater Fever".
"War" is a tight and rolling track, and one of the disc's best escapades comes in the
form of a hidden track... There's an evil spoken intro, then some pulsing, kick-in guitars.
In all, a solid effort all around.
