Pretty Boy Floyd--Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz (1989/MCA)
Rating--6.5

Rock and Roll Outlaws--RealAudio
Sort of an extreme glam clone, especially image wise, as these guys come across as a heavier and rawer Poison. There's plenty of sharp razor distortion, though, and sounds of party-hearty Crue sift through as well. Fun metal, and not too terribly cheesy, either. But the image?? Wow!... These guys give Slave Raider a run for their money, what with the makeup and nails. Still, release this puppy in '85 or '86, and you'd have a gold record.
Interesting sidenote: An unnamed band was opening for Floyd one night way back when, and right before hitting the stage needed a name. They guys floundered around, and decided to bastardize the Floyd name--just to give the PA guy something to tell the crowd. It stuck, though... and Ugly Kid Joe was born! Ok, on to the music...
A number of good, solid tracks, including "Rock & Roll (Is Gonna Set the Night on Fire)," "Toast of the Town," "Rock and Roll Outlaws," and "Your Mama Won't Know".
"I Wanna Be With You" is a real good slower-paced song, as the band shows a little toughness even when dealing with the power ballad. All in all not too bad of a release, but the riff/glam genre will have to be your scene in order to get into it.
