Axel Rudi Pell - Shadow Zone (2002/SPV)
Rating - 7.0

Found once again are intricate guitar work and strong vocals (the latter compliments of Johnny Gioeli). However, the overall songwriting isn't as "catchy" or strong as the past few studio releases from the band. There are a few too many light/slow tunes which detract from the mood somewhat, and some of the heavier cuts just seem to be lacking a bit.
"Edge of the World," "Follow the Sign," and "Saint of Fools" are all good, while "Time of the Truth" has a bit of an epic-like feel to it. A decent buy for the big Pell (or Gioeli) fan, but not one of ARP's best efforts, unfortunately.
