Axel Rudi Pell--Nasty Reputation (1991/Steamhammer)
Rating--7.7

Unchain the Thunder--RealAudio
Solid melodic metal, with Rob Rock on vocals. The music is Dokken-like at times, with good, thick chords. Because of Rock's vocals, your ears may try and detect a bit of the early-90s Impellitteri sound, as well. Circa 'Grin and Bear It,' perhaps. The band does a good job avoiding the hairspray, so to speak.
The title track is tough and solid, and numerous songs follow in the same mold: "Firewall," "Fighting the Law," "Wanted Man," and the cutting "Unchain the Thunder".
"Open Doors" is a triple-faceted instrumental, as Pell shows off various playing styles.
