Ozzy Osbourne - Live at Budokan (2002/Epic)
Rating - 7.4

Gets Me Through--RealAudio

This is an attempt to capitalize on his MTV show, plain and simple, and the problems associated with this disc domino from there. Only two studio albums have been released since Osbourne's last live offering, arguably the best track from 'Down to Earth' is omitted, and there are several of the same tired tracks that have shown up on every live Ozzy album--"I Don't Know" and "Mr. Crowley" being the main ones that come to mind. I mean, how much would it hurt to shake things up a bit? Pull out some golden nuggets every once in awhile... Play "Diary of a Madman," or "You Can't Kill Rock n' Roll," or "Centre of Eternity," or "The Ultimate Sin," for God's sake. And where's "Perry Mason"? We get "Road to Nowhere," but no Perry??...
"Believer" is its usual stalking self, and "Gets Me Through" is damn nasty. Several other tracks hit the mark, including "No More Tears," "Bark at the Moon," and the usual show-closer "Paranoid".
Still a decent rating, because if you don't know any better everything sounds fine with this disc on the surface. Zakk continues to rip things up, and save for a few crusty lines Ozzy can still deliver the tunes live.
Oh well, carry on. T-minus three years until the next live album from either Maiden or Ozz, is my guess.
