Ozzy Osbourne--Diary of a Madman (1981)
Rating--8.3

Over the Mountain--RealAudio
An almost immediate follow-up, with the main difference in this release being the much-improved sound quality. Rhoads' guitar sound is allowed to breathe and flow much more than on Osbourne's solo debut.
Overall not quite as wide-open as the previous effort, but every bit as intricate. Ozzy's voice-- which has gone through few end-result changes over his career-- is solid as usual.
Highlights include ripping rockers "Over the Mountain" and "Flying High Again," the solid cuts "You Can't Kill Rock and Roll" and "Believer," and the title song.
HOT CHOPS: The title song starts out with a good acoustic showing before giving way to one of the most blistering riffs ever-- only to back off and slow things back down. A very good song-- almost epic-like-- but a wasted riff none-the-less.
