Overkill--Wrecking Your Neck - Live (1998/CMC)
Rating--7.8
Powersurge--RealAudio
Overkill has long been a strong, energetic live act, and this 2-disc set captures much of that vitality. Recorded on 1995's W.F.O. tour, it wasn't released until 1998--
which means that (unfortunately) there are no post-'95 tracks present. That's a shame, because there are some great ones. Another slight letdown is the appearance of
only two cuts from the band's 'I Hear Black' offering--but it's a personal thing, I suppose...
The top crunching highlights are "Supersonic Hate," "Horrorscope," "Under
One," "Powersurge," and "New Machine," and other nasty staples inlcude "Infectious," "The Wait," "Spiritual Void," and "Rotten to the Core".
While in some instances
the group's studio versions of songs may be a bit better, this is still a must for the Wrecking Crew fans out there.
