Overkill--The Killing Kind (1995)
Rating--8.1

Battle--RealAudio
More subtle changes in the Overkill sound mark this album. The fact that guitarists have been shuffling through the camp over the past few years probably has a good deal to do with that, but we'll try and cope...
Even less groove here, after the fury of the anthemic and ear-blasting opening cut "Battle". This album, overall, blends the speed of 'W.F.O.' with a new-found "atmospheric," moody feel. Interesting... though I still prefer the groove of 'I Hear Black' or the mosh-speed of 'W.F.O.' or 'Horrorscope'. After the smoke clears, still a nice thrash album.
Highlights include top-spot "Battle," "Certifiable," "Burn You Down/To Ashes," "Let Me Shut that For You," .... and about all the rest. Few are as solid as the opener, but pretty much all are notable.
