Stone Cold Jesus--RealAudio
And so the beat goes on for Overkill, as it has been one of metal's steadiest groups for the past 15+ years. A lot like the last two releases, with moments of the older, W.F.O.-like thrash thrown in at times. Perhaps more in that thrash-groovy feel, ala 'I Hear Black'. Overall there aren't too many standout tracks; rather, a platter of solid tunes await us.
A raunchy crawl accents "80 Cycles," and after an "Anathesia" bass line intro, "Stone Cold Jesus" breaks into a power riff groove.
Faster verses let up and allow a slowed down, mean chorus to take effect in "Forked Tongue Kiss," and splendid pace changes are all over the title track. Other solid notables include "My December," "Let Us Prey," and "Revelation".
Looking forward to seeing the guys on tour, which is a ritualistic certainty that the band provides its fans year in and year out...
