Overkill--Horrorscope (1991)
Rating--8.4
Infectious--RealAudio
One of the most "complete" and consistent Overkill releases, as just about each and every song is solid thrash and groove.
Very much in the classic and heaviest Metallica/Megadeth/
Anthrax mold. Sort of an updated, improved and refined 'Under the Influence,' as the boys grow as a unit.
Great mid-grooves dot "Bare Bones," and the slow-down churn and chant in the middle of "Infectious" is just that!
The mean
distorted slide and crawl of the title song is a mammoth to be reckoned with, and "Soulitude" has one of the album's better
buildups.
Other bone-crunching highlights include "Coma," "Blood Money," "Thanx For Nothin'," "New Machine," and
"Nice Day...For a Funeral."
Solid slab o' metal...
HOT CHOPS: Cool recording of Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein," though due to the fact that the original version rips in its own right, you find yourself
actually wanting more from this cover!...
