Space Truckin'--RealAudio
An all-covers effort, as the band pays homage to some of its influences---which cover both metal and punk. A nice, retrospective look at the band and some of its calling cards. Not as many speed/thrash tracks as one might expect, but then again, the band was one of the innovators of that genre!
The main metal influences show up in the forms of Motorhead, Kiss, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, and (with three tracks covered) Black Sabbath.
Jethro Tull's "Hymn 43" is solid, and Priest's "Tyrant" is tight-packed. The slower and atmospheric Sabbath cover "Changes" is good, and Purple's "Space Truckin' " is energetic, flowing, and hyped---making it perhaps the best tribute on the disc.
