Nightwish--Wishmaster (2000/Century Media)

Come Cover Me--RealAudio
Hailing from Finland, Nightwish plays power metal with killer distortion and sustain. The variation comes with the vocals, as they are female and opera-like. They remind of both The Gathering and Lana Lane.
The music is along the lines of Stratovarius, though generally a bit thicker. Very sharp and crunching chords, with a fair amount of gallop to the music as well. Flecks of prog and symphonic are blended into the mix, making this a good European listen.
Nearly every tracks leaves a mark, with "Come Cover Me" and "FantasMic" being two of the best. Other staples include "She Is My Sin," "The Kinslayer," "Wanderlust," "Bare Grace Misery," and the swifter cuts "Crownless" and "Wishmaster".
