Nevermore--Dead Heart in a Dead World (2000/Century Media)
Rating--8.4

We Disintegrate--RealAudio
While not as be-all, end-all ripping as 'Dreaming Neon Black,' this is still a very good offering from the Nevermore boys. The band continues to solidify itself as a top power unit, and along with Iced Earth they proudly carry the U.S. metal flag. Warrel Dane is, as always, a treat to listen to.
The fast-thumping "Narcosynthesis" opens the disc up, and is followed by the rim-shot driven pace of "We Disintegrate," complete with some absolutely predatory Dane vocals.
A number of tracks are solid fare: "Inside Four Walls," "The River Dragon Has Come," "Engines of Hate," and the shape-shifting title cut. A nice little bonus is a cover of Paul Simon's "The Sound of Silence," which Nevermore succeeds in turning into a lurching, biting slab!
