Napalm Death--Into the Torn Apart (1997/Earache) Rating--6.8

Semi-death metal (often referred to as Grindcore, though not really on this release), as there are shouty vocals, and the music shifts from fast to groovey. There are shades of Pro-Pain, but overall the music is more fast-paced and frantic. A little Sepultura as well, perhaps. England's Napalm Death has long been a favorite of the Death/pit genre.
The fueled "Birth in Regress" is a top spot, and several cuts feature good tempo shifts, including "Down in the Zero" and "Prelude". Other strong tracks are "Breed to Breathe," "If Symptoms Persist," and "Lowpoint".
