Nuclear Assault--Something Wicked (1993)
Rating--7.9
Something Wicked--RealAudio
Listen to the title track at 30 seconds in and you know what you just purchased: Old Megadeth
meets Anthrax with a touch of Iced Earth. This rips man!
The title track by far has the best grooves, but it is all excellent thrashy stuff--something Wicked indeed. A few tracks start
with the mood acoustics (ala Iced Earth), setting the stage before bursting out head-turning riffs. Stop and start riffs galore.
The raspy vocals are great (think Blitz of Overkill with better range), over some slow groove-to-metal
madness work. Bands like this should be touring with the likes of Overkill or Flotsam & Jetsam,
who have the same head-bobbing metal styles. A few joke tracks here and there (ala Anthrax's "Killer B's" disc), but
overall highly digestable. Highlights include "Madness Descends", "Behind The Glass Wall",
"Chaos", and did I mention the title track rips?....
HOT CHOPS: "Madness Descends" at 33 seconds! Umm...Did I mention the title track rips?
