Disciples of Hell--RealAudio

** UMR Review Poll Winner **
Having previously been a part of the bands Alcatrazz and Steeler, guitar wunderkind Yngwie Malmsteen steps out with his own endeaver, "Rising Force". This disc is the second offering from that unit, and sees many elements starting to fall into place. Malmsteen was the first real "guitar god" not named Eddie Van Halen, with his sound and arpeggio-laced solos being made somewhat unique due to his classical-music background. He would employ a revolving troupe of talented vocalists, and at the same time influence a number of bands' sounds to follow-- among them Stratovarius, Kamelot, and others.
"I'll See the Light, Tonight" has long been a live staple, and "Disciples of Hell" is a good, rolling track. Solid and steady cuts show up in "Soldier Without Faith" and "On the Run Again," with "Anguish and Fear" being nice as well.
A good end-song pickup highlights "Don't Let It End," while the mesmerizing, moving slow-crank of "I Am a Viking" is classic.
