MSG--Perfect Timing (1987)
Rating--5.7
The McAuley-Schenker group, which in essence comes across sounding like a heavier Yes or GTR. Keyboards are mixed
in here and there, but the bottom line is that there just isn't enough overall distortion. Quite a few of the songs have nice setups,
but don't follow through in the crunch department. McAuley's vox sound like a mellower Dave King-ish, which is quite pleasant to the ear...
Opener and lead single "Gimme Your Love" is slick with a great chorus, and is the top disc highlight. Both "No Time For
Losers" and "Get Up" are fast hitters, with the first featuring a heavy chorus and the latter some excellent riff work. The smoothness
of "Love is Not a Game" comes across solid as well.
An interesting buy for fans of the individual artists featured within, or
of hard rock.
