Moonspell--Irreligious (1996/Century Media)
Rating--6.9

Opium--RealAudio
Doom metal, with vocals that go from the standard deep fair to almost hinging on death growls in places. A lot of Type O Negative overtones, and at times sounding like a less thrashy 'Burnt Offerings' (Iced Earth).
"Opium" is a flowing track, and "For a Taste of Eternity" has a good drive. The moody and shifty "Mephisto" stands tall, and the heavily influenced Type O sound of "Ruin & Misery" is good as well.
If you're strictly a doom fan, bump the rating up a notch. Overall, however, the tracks could be a bit more consistent.
