Mortification--Hammer of God (1999/Metal Blade) Rating--7.4

A christian metal band, but with a heavy, thrashy base. Some old Megadeth is hinted at, as well as some uninhibited moments, ala S.O.D.. At other times the band is simply thick and solid-- sort of like the more stable Pantera material.
Vocally, there's a little Pro-Pain and maybe some Lemmy, as overall its a pretty clean ride.
"Metal Crusade" is a fast opener, and is followed by steady tracks "Martyrs" and "Lock Up the Night".
"In the Woods" is a swaying and head-moving cut, and the heavy-handed and rolling "Liberal Mediocrity" is a definite top spot. Both "Extreme Conditions" and the title track are good, while grooving notes slice through "Ride the Light".
