Motorhead - Kiss of Death (2006/Sanctuary)
Rating - 7.5

What are we up to now -- studio album number twenty or so? 'Kiss of Death' is similar to virtually every MH disc from the mid-90's on, and that isn't a complaint. It's simply more of the cranking, groove-fused thumping, with some occasional punk flavorings tossed about. One caveat is that as a whole, things aren't quite as wide-open and fast as times in the past -- the band is more riffy and chunky (and carefree) now, for the most part. 'Kiss of Death' doesn't have as many stand-out tunes in terms of the bump-and-roll monsters; there are a few, however, and the delivery is still steady and consistent -- the Motorhead norm.
"One Night Stand" is a fun and rocking piece, with "Devil I Know" being one of those patented riff-and-drum driving songs.
"Under the Gun" is slower and simmers along nicely, with "Be My Baby," "Going Down," and "Sucker" passing as well. Oh, one other thing. Lemmy: we love your rasp. Please don't try and sing clean, k?... ("God Was Never On Your Side")
