Machine Head--Burn My Eyes (1994)

The Rage to Overcome--RealAudio
A strong power/thrash effort in the vein of Pantera, Slayer, and 'Low'-era Testament. Robb Flynn, formerly of Violence, heads up this headstrong unit to produce some blistering chug and groove based metal. There are plenty of low-E riffs, and strong double-bass work to back them up.
Other than the occasional (and impressive) lapses into an Anselmo-like mellowness, Flynn's voice is strong and gruff, but at the same time avoids delving into a growl.
Highlights include "Old", "A Thousand Lies", the slower, Pantera-ish "None But My Own", "The Rage to Overcome", and "Death Church".
HOT CHOPS: Almost all of the songs have that strong groove and riff backbone, but it is the most impressive on "The Rage to Overcome". This song is pretty much non-stop from beginning to end, and was made for the mosh pits.
