Motorhead--1916 (1991)
Rating--5.7
Metal/punk flavorings, and a bit too upbeat on some of the tracks than the nasty image from the previous decade seemed
to build up to. Strong energy is still shown on "The One to Sing the Blues," "I'm So Bad," and "No Voices in the Sky," but things
aren't as wide-open as before.
"Nightmare/The Dreamtime" is a nice change of pace, as it is both disturbing and tasty with
its atmospheric and methodical slow-down approach. Perfect for a horror movie backdrop, perhaps...
The title song (and closing
track to the album) flows with the sounds of an organ and light orchestration. Sounds like the mood material straight off of Pink
Floyd's 'The Wall!' But it's good...
A fairly average metal album on the whole, though Motorhead fans will still find salvagable bits and pieces.
