Mercyful Fate--Return of the Vampire (1992/Roadrunner) Rating--6.9

Some of the rare and unreleased MF tracks from early in the band's career, as the music has the cranky distortion quality of late '70s Priest, with the King sounding like early Halford virtually everywhere...
The music is a bit Maiden-tinged (as usual), which shows up on the good "Burning The Cross." A great power chord churn moves "Death Kiss," "Leave My Soul Alone" is swift, and a heavy romp groove highlights the excellent "You Asked For It."
"Curse of the Pharaohs," while slower, has a tough grind as well.
