Metalium--State of Triumph - Chapter Two (2000/Pavement)
Rating--8.5

Break Out--RealAudio
Metalium returns with its second effort, and the fast Euro power/speed sounds continue. Not quite as etched at the first release, and perhaps the absence of first-disc stand-in Chris Caffery has something to do with that. Still, very solid metal--there are strong shades of Iron Savior, and perhaps a little Hammerfall as well.
An explosive chorus pounds through "Steel Avenger," while the Priest-like "Years of Darion" is good and cranky. The double-bass consistency of "Break Out" makes it a steady cut, and some rapid-rolling notes move the deep "Erania".
The metal-stalk of "Eye of the Storm" is tasty, and just listen to those staccato distortion bursts within the harmonic-driven "Inner Sight"! Nice work...
Other mentionables include the ultra-fast "Stygian Flames," the slower title track with its majestic singing, and the genre-shifting bonus track, "Music".
As you can see, tons of above-par songs, and a meaty release overall.
