Metalium--Millenium Metal -chapter one- (1999/Pavement)

Strike Down the Heathen--RealAudio
Dream of Doom
A solid power metal offering, in the European mold of Primal Fear,
Iron Savior, and a few of the themes (and some of the swift music) of Hammerfall. Guest guitarist Chris Caffery of
Savatage
is a part of the group, but this is much better than recent 'Tage!
The harmonic stalk of "Dream of Doom" quickly lays down the foundation for the disc, and sets the stage for what is to come.
"Break the Spell" and its double-bass thump is fast, and is followed in stature by the similar "Free Forever".
"Revelation" is thick, heavy, and rhythmic, and "Metalium" is flowing and good. "Strike Down the Heathen" is straight-forward
power and crunch, as is the chainsaw chug base of "Metalians." "Pilgrimage" is yet another solid slab, as its groove is
both pulsing and winding.
A nice bonus is a cover of Deep Purple's all-time classic "Smoke
On the Water." Here we find a totally ripping, double-bass paced version, with some mean-ass, stop-and-go, note-and-chug
riffing! Great stuff, as these guys pay tribute to one of metal's forefathers.
