Peace Sells--RealAudio Wake Up Dead--RealAudio

Nice second album from former Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine and company, which covers much more ground than the band's debut. Fairly angry, in-your-face thrash, and got a lot of exposure because it wasn't quite heavy enough for MTV to ignore it.
A lot of groove-thrash, sort of in the vein of old Anthrax, and bands like Death Angel and Annihilator (the Bay Area sound).
Mustaine's yearning, almost whine-like voice is a love-or-hate affair, but fits well with the music and songs. He's one of those vocalists whom you can recognize immediately because of his distinctive sound; he's also a driving force as a guitarist. Impressive six-string work overall, but the band's best is yet to come.
Highlights include the direct "Wake Up Dead," the faster and more hectic tracks "Devil's Island" and "Black Friday," and the pulsing title song.
HOT CHOPS: The nasty strut of "Peace Sells"! Tight and powerful; made to be played loud. Also, when "Wake Up Dead" rolls in with that killer rhythm riff... Oooh yeah.
