Motley Crue--Too Fast For Love (1982)
Rating--8.2
Come On and Dance--RealAudio
The Bad Boys' debut, and this one definitely helped pave the way for glam and hair metal in the '80s. While the production
and guitar sound leave something to be desired (this would be a great disc to have remixed and updated), the hooks are still
there. The Crue also shows off the catchy choruses that would fuel its career for the next 10 years, vaulting them to the top of
the metal scene during the middle years of the decade.
Nice riffs, good Vince Neil vocals (though he really won't find his
niche until the follow-up), and a fair amount of charisma. The only major drawback, again, is the distortion---just not as
"metallic" as in the future.
Highlights include the ripping opener "Live Wire," the chunky flow of "Come on and Dance,"
and each of "Public Enemy #1," "Piece of Your Action," "Starry Eyes," and the title track.
