Mr. Big--Bump Ahead (1993)
Rating--6.3
Colorado Bulldog--RealAudio
Overall, too light with not enough rock. However, this isn't all a bad thing--The ballads that come out of the mix are extremely
pulling and strong, and may showcase the band in its true niche. It's the mid-tempo stuff that is rather plodding and unextraordinary.
The band needs to rip, or they need to croon and swoon.
The smokers here are "Colorado Bulldog" (with Gilbert going off
like his Racer X days of old), "Mr. Gone," and "The Whole World's Gonna Know."
The mood/ballad tracks include
"Promise Her the Moon," "Wild World," and "Ain't Seen Love Like That." Simply excellent stuff. Record them on a cassette tape,
give it to your girlfriend, and hold hands forever...
