Manowar--Kings of Metal (1988)
Rating--7.9
Blood of the Kings--RealAudio
Lyrically, Manowar continues its conquest on the mortal and immortal worlds alike. However, the music
doesn't show much growth on this disc. That's not to say that it's bad---far from it. There just isn't the natural progression and
improvement that was expected following 'Fighting the World'.
Manowar maintains its thick sound, at times sounding a bit like fellow heavy hitters Accept, as well
as the previously-mentioned Priest. Not as fast as the previous 'FTW,' as the band seems to revert back to the deep, solid
rhythm sections of its earlier work.
Highlights include "Kingdom Come," "Hail and Kill," "Blood of the Rings," and the title song.
