Manowar--Fighting the World (1987)
Rating--8.2
Deemed by some as Manowar's "commercial release," this brand is somewhat misleading. True, there
was a music video for one of the songs, and true, a couple of tunes have nothing to do with King Arthur, Roland of Gilead, or
armored-clan horseback riders... Never fear, though-- this album is a strong step forward for the band, both with the instruments
and with the direction of the music. The songs are faster than on earlier releases, and Eric Adams' voice is at its absolute
peak.
Highlights include "Holy War," "Black Wind, Fire and Steel," "Defender," "Blow Your Speakers," and
"Violence and Bloodshed."
