Manowar - Battle Hymns (1982/Capitol)
Rating - 6.0

This is the debut for Metal's longstanding "true warriors"; Manowar would begin a sword-and-blood legacy that would carry on for over two decades. There are a few of semi-classic tracks to be found here, including "Metal Daze," "Manowar," "Dark Avenger," and "Battle Hymn." However, in terms of sound, lyrics, and production, this is the band's most inconsistent release (which isn't totally unexpected, given its early release). "Shell Shock," for example, is just plain bad. The overall improvements will commence in the very near future, so buck up you metal children of steel. Ahem.
