What My Eyes Have Seen--mp3

Magnitude 9 is a band with a mixed bag of influences, as it truly blends power and progressive, drawing from such acts as (heavier) Dream Theater and Fates Warning, but also Iron Maiden and the like. Some newer bands they could be compared favorably to would be Onward, Valley's Eve, and Destiny's End. Vocalist Corey Brown has a strong voice, falling somewhere between Bruce Dickinson and Valley's Eve's Roberto Liapakis. Guitarist Rob Johnson has several solo CDs out, and his chops are the driving force behind the music. 'Reality in Focus' is actually the band's second release, but first on a major label.
Nearly every track here is at least above average, with several really good cuts. "Lost Along the Way" has a smooth, steady pulse to its flow, and "What My Eyes Have Seen" is another strong piece. "Far Beyond Illusion" is slower-moving and note-paced, while all of "The End of Days," "Temples of Gold," and "Quiet Desperation" are good. The band also turns in a very thick and "true" cover of Maiden's "Flight of Icarus".
Definitely a good buy for fans of the genres featured within.
