Leatherwolf--Street Ready (1989/Island)
Rating--8.5
Street Ready--RealAudio
The same influential sounds as on the debut, but the songwriting is much more consistent here. The guitar playing
reminds of Racer X at times, though not as flashy---and more solid. Still more hints of that Euro-power
feel, which really wouldn't hit Europe big until a few years later. Makes ya wonder, huh?
Every song--one through ten--is a highlight. Swift runs throughout the buildup of "Wicked Ways" are good, and fast, heavy
energy mark "Take a Chance," "The Way I Feel," "Too Much," "Lonely Road," and "Spirits in the Wind."
"Black Knight"
is a ripping and marauding instrumental, being totally axe-driven. Great vocal melodies bolster "Thunder." "Hideaway," though
a bit slower, is still distorted and strong.
This one is a bit easier to find than the debut, so search around.
