Lynch Mob--Wicked Sensation (1990)
Rating--8.9
Wicked Sensation--RealAudio
No Bed of Roses--RealAudio
A very exhilerating release following the breakup of Dokken. George Lynch, along with Dokken drummer Mick Brown, comes at you at full force. Plenty of powerful guitar work, as well as catchy vocal arrangements. A bit heavier and perhaps 'darker' than standard Dokken--probably the closest disc comparison would be 'Back for the Attack'. Lynch adds more chops and fills to the songs than he did with Dokken, but this still comes across as a band effort rather than just a "guitar" album. Even so, this is a vital addition if you're a guitar player.
Many highlights, including the title song, "River of Love", "Sweet Sister Mercy", "All I Want", "Hell Child", "She's Evil But She's Mine", and "No Bed of Roses". Almost all of the songs have a true metal sound but AOR-type choruses, which is a powerful and lethal combination.
HOT CHOPS--The overall dark atmospheres of both "Hell Child" and "She's Evil". (I once saw a girl do a stage dance to the latter song, so the title is particularly fitting... ; ) Also, the little drum roll before the last(?) chorus in "Bed of Roses"--it really flows nicely with the groove of the song.
