Labyrinth--Sons of Thunder

Labyrinth--Sons of Thunder (2001/Metal Blade) Rating--8.0

Power/prog metal, and heavier than in the band's past. There are strong shades of Elegy, with hints at a little Symphony X, early Fates Warning, and early (E.P./'Warning') Queensryche. There are mounds of fast riffing, and overall this is a fairly solid and consistent release.
Tight fretwork is etched through "Kathryn," while the heavier "Elegy" and chugging "Chapter 1" are solid. Both "Rage of the King" and the title track are fast-movers, and make the highlight list.
