Lillian Axe--Out of the Darkness - Into the Light (1991/Grand Slamm)
Rating--8.0
A compilation disc from Lillian Axe's first two releases, which became hard to find soon after their respective releases. The debut is now only
available in Japan, and the second, 'Love and War,' regularly goes for $50 and up.
Solid, smooth heavy rock, late '80s style.
Crisp vox, crunching riffs---think Dokken, Firehouse, and more...
"Misery Loves Company" has a classic Lynch drive riff pulse, and the excellent "All's Fair in Love and War" features
a thick buildup to great riffs and vocal verses, as well as a soaring chorus.
Emotional intro vox make for a good atmosphere
on "The World Stopped Turning," and the slow and thick chorus of "Hard Luck" stands out. Not to be overlooked is "She Likes
It on Top," with nice lighter-edged riffs.
One of the most overlooked bands from the above-mentioned genre.
