Kyuss--Blues For the Red Sun (1992/Dali)
Rating--7.0

Thumb--RealAudio
A Sabbathy mood and ride, as well as hints of Cathedral and Trouble. Not as heavy or substance-based as those latter groups, however, as the inclusion of several instrumentals and other experimentation leads to a bit of an abstract feeling at times.
"Thumb" starts things off with a nice churn, and the good, steady pace of "Green Machine" follows up quickly. "Freedom Run" is long and shifting, and "Writhe" is a solid overall listen.
Long an underground fave, the band unfortunately broke up in 1998.
