Kik Tracee--No Rules (1991/BMG)
Rating--7.3

Velvet Crush--RealAudio
Produced by Dana Strum of Slaughter fame, but this sounds more along the lines of the carefree and somewhat-experimental Saigon Kick material. Overall there's some really creative songwriting, but the band needs to rock out more (like is eventually done on parts of the forthcoming 'Field Trip' EP).
"Don't Need Rules" opens with a stalking little groove, and a solid thud rhythm lets "Velvet Crush" stand out.
"Rattlesnake Eyes" is building throughout, and features a good and winding chorus, while a strong flow and expansive vocal section sets apart "Hard Time". Both "Trash City" and "Soul Shaker" are good, with the latter being one of the disc's heavier tracks.
