Kotipelto - Waiting for the Dawn (2002/Century Media)
Rating - 8.0

This is the solo project/engine of Timo Kotipelto, former lead singer for Stratovarius. A host of guest musicians lend a hand here, including guitarists Michael Romeo (Symphony X) and Roland Grapow (Helloween and Masterplan). The tracks that feature Romeo show definite signs of that patented, tight Symphony X distortion. This is a decent release with some good music, playing, and vocals, but overall it’s nothing really groundbreaking in terms of the songs themselves.
Some nasty axework highlights "Vizier," "Arise" is a steady cut, and the somewhat slower "Battle of the Gods" has a snaking pace to it.
Other good tracks include "Travel Through Time," "Knowledge and Wisdom," and "Chosen by Re."
