’Coldness’ is the second solo release from the former Stratovarius frontman, and represents a marked improved over the previous ‘Waiting For the Dawn.’ The material here reminds of ‘Visions’ and ‘Destiny’ era Strat, though not as consistently fast-paced. Let of solid tunes are on display; guest musicians include Michael Romeo, Jari Kainulainen, and Janne Wirman.
"Reasons" has a biting and smooth-sliding riff, with all of "Around," "Can You Hear the Sound," "Coldness of My Mind," and "Here We Are" standing out.
Several tracks are a bit slower paced but still bottom heavy, and these include "Evening’s Fall," "Take Me Away," and the crawling "Snowbound."
This is definitely a good buy for Stratovarius fans, and also for most European Power Metal followers in general.
