Fireballs--RealAudio
While Kix has always had a passing resemblance to the bar chord simplicity of AC/DC, this is the disc that comes the closest--and it's '70s-era Bon Scott material that is struck upon. Cruising straight off of blues-metal classics such as 'Let There Be Rock' and 'Powerage,' an intriguing platter is offered as the band's swan song effort.
The absolute album highlight is "Fireballs," which is a lesson in bass thickness and groove, with the chorus displaying both in thunderous accuracy. "Baby Time Bomb" is steady, and "Fire Boy" is extremely rolling and rhythmic.
The winding chorus of "Book to Hypnotize" gives a yearning aura, and the bass-driven slow-down within "She Loves Me Not" is both moving and powerful--an admirable effort.
Kix would always play the club 'The Switch' in Raleigh when on tour--we'll miss you, guys.
