Kiss--Hot In The Shade (1989)
Rating--7.0
**U.S. Sales Certification--Gold**

Sadly, this would be Eric Carr's last album with the band before losing a battle with cancer. A bit of change for the Kiss army: 15 songs, and most being over 4 minutes long. Axeman Bruce Kulick never really got the credit he deserves, but shines on beautifully here. "Hide Your Heart" and "King Of Hearts" do the most ruthless damage, and the single "Forever" placed Kiss back in the hearts of teenage girls---at least those who had the opportunity to hear it. All in all a good album in the Kulick/Carr era Kiss.
Other highlights include the Gene-growled "Betrayed," and also "Prisoner Of Love".
HOT CHOPS: Don't have the lights off when listening to the Halloween-sounding intro to "King Of Hearts". Spooky-cool, man!
