Kiss--Asylum (1985)
Rating--7.0
**U.S. Sales Certification--Gold**

There are some good tunes here, and a number of sharp riffs, but few songs really stick. This mid-80s version of Kiss is turning out to basically be Kix or Cinderella, with the more time-tested voices.
"Tears Are Falling" is the lead cut, and has grooving, steady opening riffs. Check out Paul's singing over the chorus at the end---a nice touch. 'Asylum' also marks Bruck Kulick's first contribution to the dynasty, and he throws down some nice chops---the crunch on "Trial by Fire" behind Gene's vocals comes across especially strong. "Uh! All Night" is another semi-anthem, and was a party favorite at the time, with a chorus achieving a Van Halen-like nastiness.
Other highlights include the groove riffs on "Who Wants to be Lonely" and Paul's high vocals on "Love's a Deadly Weapon".
