Killer Dwarfs--Method to the Madness (1992/Sony)
Rating--7.0
All My Heroes--RealAudio
The band has its same semi-carefree, swaggering sound-- though musically this is fairly mature compared to the early
'Stand Tall' days. Sort of the post-sleaze L.A. sound that a number of bands tapped into during the early '90s-- whether they
were from L.A. or not. In this case, the Dwarfs actually hail from Canada. But I digress... There's the same overall L.A.
feel at times, without overdoing the flash.
Vocally, there's a definite edge, as singer Russ falls somewhere between Seb Bach of
Skid Row fame, and Phil
Lewis of L.A. Guns.
"All My Heroes" is a good and steady track, and a note drive rhythm is
the strong point of "Just as Well." Disc-opener "Hard Luck Town" is sharp with a good chorus, and all of "Cowboys and Conmen,"
"Stranger Than Fiction," and the title song hold their own.
