This Place is Terrible--RealAudio
The King continues his amazing string of releases, switching off with his doppleganger group Mercyful Fate to have unleashed an album almost every year now for over 15 years. Another concept/story opus unfolds here before us. While there aren't as many of the patented KD grooving cuts, there are a lot of good, flowing tracks. Also of note, whereas Diamond's voice may have sounded a little strained only a year or two ago (see the last MF album), here it's as strong as ever. In all, longtime fans will enjoy, as always...
"The Trees Have Eyes" and the title track both strike early, and the nasty and evil-laden "Black Devil" starts a string of solid cuts that includes the energetic "The Pact," the thick "Just a Shadow," and the chopping "Help!!!"
Patented pace changes dot "Catacomb," and one of the disc's paramount moments is the swift "This Place is Terrible," with plenty of strong chords clearing the way.
TRACK LIST: Upon the Cross/The Trees Have Eyes/Follow the Wolf/House of God/Black Devil/The Pact/Goodbye/Just a Shadow/Help!!!/Passage to Hell/ Catacomb/This Place is Terrible/Peace of Mind
