Kamelot--Eternity (1995/Noise)
Rating--8.5

Red Sands--RealAudio
The classic Euro power/prog sound, but the band hails from Florida. That distinction should remind you of Crimson Glory, which this unit sounds a lot like in places. Another good comparison would be the heavier of Conception's work, which again makes sense. Vocally, Midnight and Roy Khan (from the aforementioned bands) come to mind, but there are also tough strains of a Dickinson-like throat in there as well.
Produced by Jim Morris (of Iced Earth fame), meaning there's also muscle...
A rolling, chugging riff intro marks "Proud Nomad," and "Red Sands" is fast, swift, and intricate.
The paced and thick "Fire Within" has a strong and deep chorus, and precision riffs move both "Warbird" and "The Gleeman". "One of the Hunted" and the title track are two more strong tracks, as this debut is the first of (currently) four strong offerings from an up-and-coming power player on the scene. If you enjoy the genre, you'll enjoy Kamelot.
