Jag Panzer--Thane to the Throne (2000/Century Media)
Rating--8.4

Three Voices of Fate--RealAudio
Jag Panzer tackles one of the darkest, most enthralling stories in all of literature-- Shakespeare's tragedy of Macbeth. This solid collection of tunes weaves the tale of the ill-motived King in complete fashion, and content-knowledge in the subject matter is a definite plus in one's enjoyment of the disc. The band does the story justice.
Musically, the group stays its course, as the usual sounds of Angel Dust surface in places, along with some sprinkled Maiden thumping. Mega-producer Jim Morris is at the knobs, and the band's fastest moments remind a bit of Iced Earth as a result.
Opening track "Thane of Cawdor" features a surprisingly slow pace, but a very moving chorus helps to set the mood of the story well. The contrasting "King at a Price" is cutting and thumping, and "Bloody Crime" is another choppy track.
The excellent, choral-like underlying male/female vocals of "Three Voices of Fate" blend perfectly with the song's structure, and a number of tracks surface as standard Jag Panzer fare: "Hell to Pay," "Insanity's Mind," "Face of Fear," "Fall of Dunsinane," and "Fate's Triumph" with its stellar chorus.
