Iron Savior--Condition Red (2002/Noise)
Rating--8.0
Mindfeeder--RealAudio
If nothing else, Iron Savior is certainly consistent. They have been churning out albums on a regular basis for several years now, and have stuck to their guns. The
main drawback is that there may be too little variety--the band seems stuck in the same formula loop: same fast drum pace, similar multi-layered vocal parts in
each song, etc. The music here is fast like Gamma Ray, but doesn't have the same attacking atmosphere and feel, and another roundabout comparison would be Primal
Fear, but it lacks the crunching distortion and ultra-etched riffs. Iron Savior is at a bit of a crossroads; they are a musically competent band, to be sure, but will need to push
the envelope to new boundaries with its future releases in order to ensure its metal longevity.
The higher points include "Mindfeeder" and the title track, while other
strong cuts are "Protector," "Ironbound," and "No Heroes".
And real quick here, what is up with metal bands covering Seal songs?? First it was Angel Dust, and now
Iron Savior covers "Crazy". Okayyyy.....
